Named GP

As part of the new government initiative as of the 1st of April 2015 all patients will be allocated a named GP. The named GP will be responsible for coordinating patients’ care in the practice and ensuring that all appropriate services are delivered to them. However, the name of the patients’ registered GP will not change.

If you would like to know who your named GP is please contact the practice. If you have a preference as to which GP that is we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request.

The named GP will not:

  • Be the only GP or clinician who will provide care to the patient.
  • Take on responsibility for the work of other doctors or health professionals
  • Take on 24-hour responsibility for the patient’s health, or have to change their working hours.
  • Having a named GP does not imply personal availability of that GP throughout the working week.

The team of GPs on the Red practice will continue to work together to ensure that you receive high quality care.
